On November 26, 2024, Orthodox Christians celebrate St. John Chrysostom Day.
He earned the nickname "Chrysostom" (Golden Mouth) because of his numerous theological works and renowned eloquence. He left behind many theological writings. Later, his remains were transferred to Constantinople, to the Church of St. Irene. When the coffin was opened, it was found that his relics were incorrupt.
In Russia, this day was called "Frozen Ploughland." It was believed that nature would freeze and fall into a deep sleep. Therefore, all agricultural work had to be completed by this day.
