"Red Bogatyrs for Africa" — Foreign journalists were shown the latest models of agricultural machinery at the Kirov Plant.
The tour was led by the head of production development, Yegor Skripkin. He introduced the guests to the range of machinery models and the company’s development plans, showing them the gearbox assembly workshop, the welding production, and the main tractor assembly line.
Journalists also got acquainted with the high-tech equipment used in the production of the machinery.
"Sales of 'Kirovets' equipment to the African region have already been made to Ethiopia, Libya, Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa. Currently, negotiations are underway for supplies to Egypt and Nigeria. The St. Petersburg Tractor Plant is interested in expanding cooperation and is actively seeking partners in the region," noted Georgy Pertenava, Head of Sales at the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant.
This year, the Kirov Plant is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Russian tractor production: in 1924, the first Fordson-Putilovets tractors rolled off the assembly line here. These tractors marked the beginning of Soviet wheeled tractor production.
In the second half of the day, the delegation visited the Tauras-Fenix and Tauras-Plast factories. These companies are among the largest in St. Petersburg, specializing in the production of plastic products and packaging. A special tour of the enterprises was organized for the guests.
The group of African journalists arrived in Russia as part of the international press tour "Food Security – The Key to the Future," held under the auspices of Rossotrudnichestvo.
