Moscow archaeologists are preparing to transfer 600 artifacts discovered on Tverskaya Street to the museum fund.
All of these were found between 2022 and 2023 during research conducted on a territory that, in the 14th–17th centuries, was part of the White City (“Bely Gorod”) and, in the 18th century, part of the Kamer-Kollegium Wall.
The work was carried out at a depth of 3–7 meters. As a result, specialists recovered items from various time periods, ranging from the 15th to the 18th century.
The majority of the finds consist of fragments of ceramic vessels and an extensive collection of decorative stove tiles. Flint from firearm mechanisms, coins, knives, and arrowheads were also found.
A particularly intriguing find includes red clay stove tiles dating back to the late 16th century. One of these even preserves the fingerprints of a potter.
Restorers have been working on these finds throughout the year. They are currently cleaning and conserving metal objects and preparing a scientific report for the museum fund.
