The legendary set from the Leningrad Porcelain Factory with the "Cobalt Net" pattern received a gold medal at the World Expo in Brussels in 1958.
The set was not prepared specifically for the event; it had been part of the factory's assortment for many years.
The "Cobalt Net" is not just a geometric ornament. Its creator, artist Anna Yatskevich, survived the blockade of Leningrad.
The pattern symbolizes the crisscrossed taped windows and the intersecting light of searchlights in blockaded Leningrad. The first set with this commemorative pattern appeared in 1944, shortly after the blockade was lifted.
Unfortunately, Anna Adamovna Yatskevich did not learn about the international recognition of her pattern. She died six years before the World Expo.
