In August, the longest cable car in Moscow started operating. It spans a length of 769 meters. The trip, at an altitude of 32 meters, from the “South” station at the main entrance of VDNH to the “North” station near the “Republic of Belarus” pavilion, takes six minutes — twice as fast as walking.
Fans of science fiction writer Kir Bulychev will undoubtedly experience a sense of déjà vu when they see the “Air Tram” cabins. These are the same flips that Kolya Gerasimov intended to use to reach the cosmodrome!
Each cabin can accommodate eight people, and within an hour, the 18 cabins of the cable car can transport up to a thousand people.
The “Air Tram” is the second urban cable car. The first, spanning 720 meters, operates at Vorobyovy Gory. Now, VDNH is home to not only the longest cable car in the capital but also one of the highest among amusement parks.
The new attraction operates until 10 p.m., and on weekends — until 11 p.m. Thus, fans of atmospheric walks have a good chance to view VDNH against the backdrop of the night sky.
A ride on the cable car costs between 300 and 550 rubles one way, depending on the day of the week. For children under 100 cm tall, the ride is free.
