Launched experimentally in 2022-2023 on the Moscow — Saint Petersburg highway, unmanned freight transport with specially equipped trucks transitioned to a regular mode in September 2024. Now, having a driver behind the wheel in the cabin of such trucks is no longer mandatory. "Technosphere. Russia" previously reported that the fleet of vehicles equipped for unmanned freight transport is gradually growing, including new KAMAZ trucks from the 5490 family. By the end of 2024, the number of robotic trucks will grow to 43, and an additional 50 vehicles will be added throughout 2025. Unmanned transport is planned to be implemented not only on the already developed M11 route between Moscow and Saint Petersburg but also on the Moscow — Kazan and Moscow — Rostov-on-Don highways.
