The flight testing program for the Tu-214 prototype equipped with new Russian-made components has begun. This was reported by PJSC "United Aircraft Corporation" (UAC), citing Konstantin Timofeev, the company's first deputy CEO and managing director of JSC "Tupolev." "Today, the aircraft took to the skies for the first time after the full replacement of imported components. The flight took place at the aerodrome of the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov, a branch of JSC 'Tupolev,' and lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes," the statement reads. During the flight, checks were performed on various systems and onboard equipment components. According to the crew, the tests went as planned, with all systems and equipment functioning without issues. "Based on this aircraft, flight tests, further modernization, and the development of the Tu-214 platform will continue, including the creation of a two-crew cockpit." The Tu-214 is a medium-haul passenger aircraft. It can accommodate up to 210 passengers and has a maximum flight range of 6,500 kilometers. Following the imposition of Western sanctions against Russia, which restricted the supply of Boeing and Airbus aircraft, authorities decided to launch mass production of the Tu-214. According to the comprehensive aviation industry development program, four such aircraft are planned for 2025, seven for 2026, and a total of 115 by 2030.
