Russian universities may introduce a guaranteed employment system to ensure that students studying on a government-funded basis are provided with jobs immediately after graduation.
This initiative was proposed by the Minister of Education, Valery Falkov. He believes that this will not only help graduates find jobs in their field of specialization but also address the issue of labor shortages.
In addition, the head of the ministry suggested linking guaranteed employment to the status of a young specialist. Specifically, this status would be granted to those who find employment in accordance with their education.
It is worth noting that the concept of "young specialist" was officially enshrined in legislation in 2024 at the initiative of President Vladimir Putin. This category includes citizens under 35 years old who gained work experience during their studies at a higher education institution and are entering the workforce for the first time.
According to a survey conducted by "Student Youth" in 2023, many students face difficulties in finding a job. About 30% of respondents cited low wages, 12.6% mentioned a lack of interest from employers, and another 19% pointed to a lack of support programs during the job search process.
To address these issues, a new national project "Youth of Russia" is planned to be developed by the end of 2024. Its main goal is to unite all government support measures for young people and create conditions in which they can develop as scientists, professionals, and mentors.
